Al fresco cooks face £500 fine as new ‘barbecue ban’ aims to curb wildfire scourge

It has long been a source of pleasure for campers, hikers and day-trippers: finding the perfect scenic spot then setting up the barbecue.

But, instead of ending up with an al fresco treat, anyone grilling burgers, chicken, peppers or corn-on-the-cob in the great outdoors could soon be slapped with a £500 fine.

For barbecuing in Scotland’s countryside is set to be outlawed under radical new plans to tackle the growing menace of wildfires, reports the Sunday Post.
